Description:

Pre-Columbian, north coast of Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 200 BCE. An elegant vessel with a near-spherical body and a tall, gracefully tapering spout with a rolled rim. The body is burnished to incredible russet red and chocolate brown hues that reflect light beautifully. This coloring was likely intended to replicate the warm glow of a newly minted copper vessel. This special example is incredibly preserved! Size: 6.35" W x 8.52" H (16.1 cm x 21.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-private D. Jeppesen collection, Oregon, USA, acquired before 1982
