Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Chavin, 1000 to 800 BCE. A hand-built pottery vessel of spherical form with a planar base, a stirrup-shaped handle, and a tall spout. Decorating the red-orange ground are bands of white and black pigment that form abstract linear motifs that perhaps resemble highly stylized human faces. Size: 5.5" Diameter x 8.875" H (14 cm x 22.5 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.
