Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chavin, 900 to 200 BCE. A green stone with a brown tinge carved into a long, tapered pipe stem. Below the mouth of the stem is a humanoid face, made using string cutting and drilling carving techniques. With large eyes and an open mouth, the face may represent someone who is ritually ingesting drugs using the pipe. Comes with custom stand. Size: 1.4" W x 5.7" H (3.6 cm x 14.5 cm); height on stand: 6.75" (17.1 cm)
