Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1300 CE. A superb hand-woven reed basket that holds textile weaving tools: 10 wooden spindle needles with 8 attached pottery spindle whorls. Remains of wool threads are still wrapped around 3 of the spindles and bands of red, black, white, and yellow pigments highlight the sticks as well as two of the beads. Size (basket): 13" L x 5.25" W x 3" H (33 cm x 13.3 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: private Plano, Texas, USA collection, inherited from father in the 1990's
