Description:

Pre-Columbian, central Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 1000 CE. Carved of balsa, indigenous to this region of Peru, wearing conical headdress and painted in added red and white pigment. Once with attached arms, secured with woven reeds. Figures like this were interred with the deceased to give them comfort in the afterlife. Size: 4" W x 19" H (10.2 cm x 48.3 cm); 19.5" H (49.5 cm) on included custom stand.
