Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A hand-built pottery woman standing atop delineated legs with pierced genitalia in-between. Her cylindrical body displays perky breasts, a pair of outstretched, attenuated arms, and an intricately-painted panel filled with linear and zigzagging motifs. Her stylized head boasts raised circular eyes, a bulbous nose, and full lips, all painted with a dark-red slip and surrounded by applied white pigment in a variety of motifs. Size: 5.7" W x 8.875" H (14.5 cm x 22.5 cm).
