Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 1000 to 1470 CE. A pretty pottery jar presenting a bulbous body hand-painted with horizontal bands of black and burgundy designs atop a creamy white ground. A flared spout with a tubular neck rises from the top of the wide-hipped vessel, which sits upon a planar base. Horizontal registers of circular, linear, and quadrilateral motifs adorn the rounded shoulder. Size: 5.9" Diameter x 5.9" H (15 cm x 15 cm)
