Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A hand-built pottery jar of stylized figural form bearing dark brown decorations across the cream-hued ground. The rotund figure holds a petite cup with both hands in front of the chest, and the expressive visage is emphasized by its pointed ears and enormous eyes. Size: 6" L x 5.8" W x 8.125" H (15.2 cm x 14.7 cm x 20.6 cm)
