Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1470 CE. Pair of chocolate brown on white slipped pottery vessels, one a round-bottomed bowl with a tiny zoomorphic figure (probably a bird) applied to the shoulder and elegant stylized geometrics, perhaps representing eggs on bird wings, painted around the rim, the other an attractive canteen, its round body presenting a painted "X" motif, with perforated lug handles and a cylindrical neck. A wonderful pair in classic Chancay style. Size: canteen measures 7.25" W x 8.25" H (18.4 cm x 21 cm)
