Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A fine pottery jar boasting a rotund form and lovely black and white decoration. Sitting upon a rounded base, the ancient vessel presents a globular body, a corseted neck, a flared spout, and a pair of ribbon-form handles connecting neck to shoulder. The body of the jar is divided vertically with less than half enveloped in white pigment, while black slip covers the remainder, as well as the handles and neck. Target, steppe, and linear motifs additionally adorn the rim and shoulder of the vessel. Size: 6.9" Diameter x 9" H (17.5 cm x 22.9 cm)
