Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A bichrome terracotta bowl with thin, flared walls, a flat corseted foot, and a pleasing linear motif painted across its basin. The exterior register is undecorated, highlighting the cream and orange-hued surface of its buffware which is smooth to the touch, with a stone-like presence and feel. Its interior basin features wide “X” and “V” shaped bandings, accompanied by esoteric symbols that adorn the four sides of the basin. A well-preserved example, with a charming painted decoration and presence! Size: 8" Diameter x 3.45" H (20.3 cm x 8.8 cm)
