Ancient Central / Northern Europe, Celtic Iron Age, ca. 5th to 1st century BCE. A lengthy spear tip exhibiting a petaloid blade above a tapered socketing shaft. Along the spine on both sides of the blade are elaborately stamped rows of stippling and sawtooth triangles that imbue this weapon with a personalized presentation not typically seen on iron weaponry. Size: 15.75" L x 1.7" W (40 cm x 4.3 cm)

  • Condition: Chips and nicks to blade and socketing shaft, with one stable fissure to blade edge near shaft, softening to some patterning on blade, and oxidation commensurate with age, otherwise in excellent condition. Great patina and preservation to form; decorative motifs still visible on blade faces.
