Description:

Western Europe, modern day Spain and Portugal, Iberian Late Bronze Age (Celtic), ca. 1300 to 600 CE. A fascinating sculpture, cast from bronze and depicting an anthropomorphic figure with a columnar body. Thin arms extend outward from the body, reaching forward from the torso as if they once held something. The head is the only part of the body with marked features, and includes eyes, nose, and mouth. Hair or a large headdress completes the figure. The size and form of this sculpture suggests that it was made to be a votive or offering piece, perhaps one that was kept in a domestic altar or placed into a grave. Size: 1.2" W x 3" H (3 cm x 7.6 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.
