Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes (Paquime) culture, ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A pleasing pottery jar with a rounded body and a raised rim, all enveloped in creamy beige-hued slip with black-painted decoration. Sitting upon a round yet stable base, the swollen walls of the vessel feature a hypnotic pattern of interlocking scrolls that extend from striated and black-filled areas, while the attenuated rim is adorned by horizontal bands. Size: 6.1" Diameter x 4.5" H (15.5 cm x 11.4 cm)
