Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A hand-built pottery jar with a hemispherical base, tapered shoulders leading up to a corseted neck, and a flared rim. The beige-white exterior surface features expertly-executed decorations consisting of zigzagging black stripes, abstract zoomorphic creatures with circular eyes, spiraling bands, and broad areas of solid red pigment; the underside is undecorated. Size: 8.67" Diameter x 7.9" H (22 cm x 20.1 cm)

  • Professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and minor fading to pigment, with pitting mostly within basin, otherwise in nice condition. Great motifs across exterior. Previous inventory label beneath base.
