Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A hand-built and stone-burnished pottery jar of spherical form with a tapered shoulder and a flared rim. The beige-hued exterior is decorated with neatly-spaced linear, triangular, rectangular, and spiraling motifs in hues of black and red; the underside is undecorated. Two pairs of drilled holes on opposite sides of the neck were perhaps used for suspension when the jar was not in use. Size: 5.19" Diameter x 4.7" H (13.2 cm x 11.9 cm)

Light abrasions and pitting, with minor fading to original pigment, otherwise in nice condition. Great preservation to original motifs. Previous inventory number handwritten beneath base.
