Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes (Paquime) culture, ca. 1150 to 1450 CE. A hand-built pottery jar of sizable, apple-shaped form with a round but stable base, a gently carinated upper body, and a tapered shoulder surmounted by a petite, flared rim. The beige-hued vessel is decorated with a series of broad circles on the shoulder as well as a plethora of spirals, steps, lines, curvilinear bands, and circular motifs in red and black hues that catch the viewer's attention. Size: 7.9" Diameter x 6.7" H (20.1 cm x 17 cm)

Abrasions, fading, and small spalls to painted decorations in scattered areas, with light earthen and mineral deposits within basin. Great preservation to most painted areas.
