Northern Mexico, Ca 1300 CE. As Casas Grande bowls go, they simply do not get much better than this! Deep bowl, slightly oblong in form decorated on the exterior with typical red and black geometric forms over a red to buff background. Interior is decorated with a continuous black pattern in an almost metallic thick pigment. The interior is quite similar to Native American bowls from the Four-Corners area of the same time period showing trade between these people certainly must have existed. 10"L x 9-1/4"W x 4-5/8"D. PROVENANCE: Ex-noted American artist's private collection, acquired prior to 1983.
