Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero, ca. 800 BCE. A dark green stone anthropomorphic idol with stylized visage and nose extending from top of head to mouth with hands held tightly to sides. The figure was pecked from a much larger stone, with evidence of this pecking obvious where his arms meet the torso and along top of the head. The major features were then string cut to create finer features such as the nose and mouth. Finally, the entire figure was painstakingly polished by hand. Custom stand. Size: 4-3/4" x 2-1/8" at widest point. Provenance: Ex-Historia Antiques, James Caswell, Santa Monica, CA. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
