Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia to Ecuador (Carchi) region, Narino Highlands, ca. 1250 CE. A fabulous terracotta bowl presenting a concave, conical foot and thick walls that flare outwards to a gently flared, circular rim, all enveloped in warm hues of beige, sienna, and black beneath a lustrous burnish. While the exterior is coated in beige glaze, the interior boasts an extensive decorative program divided into six sections with two containing large octothorps and petite squares and the other four filled with a repeated pattern of "w" shapes. The interior rim is decorated with a creamy beige border. Size: 7.75" in diameter x 4.25" H (19.7 cm x 10.8 cm)
