Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Near East, Holyland, Canaanite, Early Bronze Age, ca. 3500 to 3000 BCE. A delightful pottery alabastron featuring an ovoid shaped body that narrows to a petite flared rim. A tightly-packed linear design of lattice motif envelops the body, accentuating its swollen form, while several rings encircle the shoulder, creating a type of target design around the mouth of the vessel. Additionally, the area near the base is adorned with recessed parallel bands. While the colors and netting pattern of this vessel are typical characteristics of Early Bronze Age Canaanite culture, the handle-less form suggests an Egyptian influence on its shape, hinting at a cultural exchange between these 2 cultures. Size: 3.4" Diameter x 7.5" H (8.6 cm x 19 cm)

Cf. the Israel Museum, 74.19.52.
