Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Byzantine Empire, ca. 6th to early 9th century CE. A hand-built stucco male worshipper figurine wearing lengthy vestments incised with fine linear decorations. He stands with a slight forward lean and holds both hands with open palms against his chest in a gesture of respect. His rounded face presents with smooth cheeks, a triangular nose, and petite eyes beneath a coiffure of neatly arranged vertical locks and a simple cap. Size: 0.9" W x 3.3" H (2.3 cm x 8.4 cm); 4.375" H (11.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-Phoenicia Holyland Antiquities, New York, New York, USA; ex-private Mr. Khabbazi collection, acquired in November 1992
