Byzantium, ca. 8th to 12th century CE. An unusual Byzantine silver bracelet featuring a six-pointed Star of David motif on a central circular disc attached to a gorgeous bangle of a spiraled design. The bracelet has an unusual latching mechanism which still works. A wearable work of religious art, quite unusual for its Jewish iconography. Custom stand. Size: 2.75" W x 2.25" H (7 cm x 5.7 cm); Jewish star applique measures .75" W (1.9 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Private Florida collection; owner purchased it in Jerusalem in the mid 1970s
