Description:

Byzantium, ca. 6th to 9th century CE. An elegant glass unguent of brilliant aubergine hues, one of the rarest and most desirable of all Roman glass colors with its deep purple hues. The petite vessel presents an attractive form comprised of a cylindrical body leading to a tubular neck that constricts at its lower end, then bulges slightly only to constrict a tad once again and finally gradually flare to a wider mouth. Adding to its impressive aesthetic is finely incised feather motif that covers the vessel from base to rim. Size: 1.125" in diameter x 3.125" H (2.9 cm x 7.9 cm)
