The sandstone formations glow in warm hues of tangerine, apricot, and sienna, as gray shadows add contrast. The silhouette of a lone, seated figure is featured at the lower left, holding a walking stick as though resting during a long journey to take in the magnificence of the awe-inspiring view. Buffalo Kaplinski studied at the American Academy of Art and the Chicago Art Institute. He moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1967 where he became an outstanding contemporary landscape artist, working in both acrylic and watercolor.
