Description:

Roman, Roman-controlled Britain, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine redware pottery bowl resting atop an integral concave foot. The round-bodied vessel has rolling walls, a deep basin, and a gently-tapering rim with a flared lip. Two sets of wheel-formed striations adorn the midsection of the body as well as just beneath the neck, and the remaining exterior areas are accentuated with hundreds of small stippling marks which imbue it with an elegant texture. Covered in red slip, this is a fabulous example of Romano-British artistry! Size: 4.5" W x 3.2" H (11.4 cm x 8.1 cm).

Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired in 1965 from dealer Mehmet Altinis, Antalya, Turkey
