Probably given as an award or honor to a knight or other nobleman, it clearly shows the 3 lions of his official Coat of Arms. Richard the Lionhearted was often mentioned in literature including Robin Hood. Two piece construction with upper swizzle with two insertion tangs, supporting a shield-shaped badge with 3 lions in low relief, small amounts of original gilding still evident.
