South America, Bolivia, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely sterling silver Spanish Colonial crown most likely intended for a Spanish Colonial santo figure, hand made by the Andean silversmiths in Bolivia from high content .925 silver (62.8 grams), using the same techniques used since the Colonial era by the Andean silversmiths, meticulously hand hammered, expertly molded in repousse, and chased throughout with foliage inspired motifs, topped by a Latin cross-topped orb finial. Descendants of the Inca culture, the Aymara speaking artists have devoted themselves to preserving this thousand year old tradition. A brilliant example, perfect for anyone who appreciates Spanish colonial devotional art. Bridged section stamped "ENART .925" Size: 3.125" in diameter at widest point x 3.75" H (7.9 cm x 9.5 cm)
