Description:

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. An awesome fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark - the largest fish or shark to ever exist! This monstrous tooth has the characteristic triangular form with a gorgeous matte charcoal gray root and lustrous enamel- and the root bears cavities and bore holes from hosting clams! The coloration of his megalodon tooth is natural- the vast range of hues we see in these teeth are due to chemicals and minerals present in the water and sediment as the tooth fossilizes. These edges retain most of the petite serrations which are pleasantly tactile - however these serrations demonstrate the great tearing capability these sharks had- their jaws also had the strength to crush a small car - a frightening thought! Size: 5.44" L x 4.28" W (13.8 cm x 10.9 cm)
