Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A fabulous free-blown oinochoe, formed from a semi-translucent, yellow-green glass, with a slight concave base and a smooth pontil. The vessel also features a globular body, a narrow, tubular neck, a trefoil spout, and an applied trail handle. Several horizontal bands of petite indentations detail the main body, ending just below the base of the neck. Noteworthy are the areas of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence which imbue the vessel with a brilliant, effervescent coloration. A beautiful oinochoe exemplifying the proficiency of Roman glass-blowing! Size: 3.75" H (9.5 cm).
