Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A gorgeous mold-formed bowl shaped from translucent glass of a blue-green hue. The bowl is defined by a flat base, expanding walls with a thin rim, and a shallow basin. The exterior is surrounded by twenty raised ribs formed via the pillar-molding process where the glass would be slipped, sagged, and pulled over a mold to create the protruding design. Thick layers of fiery silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence have enveloped this vessel and gracefully accentuate its turquoise coloration. Size: 5.5" Diameter x 1.75" H (14 cm x 4.4 cm)
