Description:

Ancient Northern Europe, Nordic culture, Neolithic period, ca. 2800 to 2400 BCE. A beautiful axe blade, meticulously knapped from caramel-hued flint. The tool is defined by a thick butt, a stocky body, an axe head which tapers gradually, and an acutely-angled blade edge. Hand axes like this example were used to carve and shape softer materials like wood and were utterly invaluable to Neolithic European cultures. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 1.7" W x 3.8" H (4.3 cm x 9.7 cm).
