Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Mixtec, ca. 1200 CE. An attractive bichrome pottery vessel, its form consisting of a globular body with a conical neck rising to a flared rim, its surface elaborately adorned with red bands on the rim and shoulder and panels containing identical abstract interlacing figural creatures comprised of swirls and stylized geometric motifs. All the decoration is further highlighted with incised marks. A special example with nice manganese deposits as well. Size: 5" in diameter x 6.125" H (12.7 cm x 15.6 cm)
