Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 6th century BCE. A lovely alabastron of a slender form, hand-carved from honey-yellow alabaster with natural banding that illuminates when placed next to a bright light. The interior cavity is hollowed out via progressively finer drill bits and coarse sand, and traces of the original drill striations are still visible within.
