Italy, Apulia / Daunian, ca. 300 BCE. A striking, handsomely decorated oinochoe (pouring vessel) with an elegant silhouette, the body of a globular form with a flared, flat rim and a single, flat strap handle bridging rim to shoulder, all signature traits of Daunian pottery and all adorned with a polychrome scheme of geometric decorations featuring a striped pattern tracing every contour of the vessel in characteristic chocolate brown and orange hues over a cream slip ground, both ends of the handle and register adjacent to the base further decorated with stylized geometric motifs known as listati. A beautiful example. Size: 5.25" at widest point x 4.375" H (13.3 cm x 11.1 cm)
