Description:

Ancient Central Asia, Bactria, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A beautiful jar of broad, circular form with a flared rim, a deeply corseted neck, and a planar base. The mottled honey yellow, citrine, and coffee brown hues illuminate nicely when the vessel is placed next to a bright light source. Alabaster, a light-colored, calcareous stone from the Iranian Plateau, has strong connections in ancient western and central Asia to religion and specifically the gods. Size: 5.49" Diameter x 5.9" H (13.9 cm x 15 cm)
