Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Sican, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A beautiful gold ring made from a fine sheet of 14K gold that has been gently bent to mirror the shape of a finger - and tooled to create the impression of a nailbed and knuckles, making for a rather naturalistic representation. A gold band intended to wrap around the finger of the wearer is at the end opposite the fingernail. A remarkable and delicate sign of ancient wealth, made to be worn by royalty or the elite! US ring size: 1.5 to 2, perfect for a pinky; Size: 2.625" L x .625" in diameter (6.7 cm x 1.6 cm); Weight: 3.2 grams

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex Hirsch Collection, Germany
