Description:

Eastern Europe, Lithuania / Russia, Baltic region, Eocene, ca. 34 to 56 million years ago. A collection of 13 polished amber nuggets with insects trapped inside the matrices. The species are not identified, but they appear to be tiny gnats, ants, flies, and a spider! One amber piece comes with a printed closeup photo of the insect. Amber from the Baltic Sea region is fossilized resin from prehistoric coniferous trees, renowned for its warm, golden hues which is often used in jewelry and decorative items. Millions of years ago insects and other organisms often got trapped in the sticky resin, which hardened and entombed the creatures within, creating a remarkable time capsule of prehistoric life! Amber's natural beauty, coupled with the intrigue of encapsulated prehistoric life forms, continues to captivate enthusiasts- a cherished gem in both scientific and artistic realms.
