Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi Province, Bahia culture, ca. 5th to 1st century BCE. A lovely mold-formed pottery human effigy figure standing atop attenuated legs. The figure holds both curved arms against the flat abdomen, wears a knee-length skirt incised with linear and stippled motifs, and has rounded shoulders which taper to a thick neck. The elongated head boasts raised ovoid eyes, a triangular nose with a thick nose ring, thin lips, and clustered earrings, all beneath a simple cap. Faded areas of red, orange, and brown pigment are still visible across most areas. Size: 2.875" W x 7.3" H (7.3 cm x 18.5 cm); 7.625" H (19.4 cm) on included custom stand.
