Central Asia, Bactrian, ca. late 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A breathtaking necklace comprised of 10 circular lapis lazuli beads, all presenting stunning cornflower blue hues w/ white/ grey inclusions, spaced with 8 high (22+) kt gold openwork beads that resemble miniature suns w/ rays formed via granules, a pair of cylindrical openwork beads at the upper termini, and at center, a large round concave 22+ kt gold pendant of hammered gold sheet, flanked by pair of translucent quartz crystal round beads. Size: 11" L (27.9 cm) 18" cord; round gold pendant 1.625" L (4.1 cm)

Provenance: Ex- Collection of James Farmer, Maryland, collected from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005
