Central Asia, Bactrian culture, ca. 1st Millennium BCE. A beautiful Bactrian necklace composed of 20 semiprecious stone beads connected via 14K gold links. This piece of wearable art features two lapis lazuli beads carved to depict birds of slate as well as more saturated royal blue hues, two amethyst beads in the shape of elegant urns boasting stunning hues of deep purple, five polished teardrop shaped amethyst or garnet beads of rich wine and violet hues, two banded agate beads of black, toffee, and white hues, two faceted translucent amethyst beads of lavender hues, and seven polished rounded stones - either amethysts or garnets - of vibrant plum hues. Definitely a head turner! Size: 15" L (38.1 cm); lapis bird beads measure ~ .75" L (1.9 cm)
