Central Asia, Bactria, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A handsome grey schist censer with the remains of a handle projecting from one side and a cuboid body. The body is drilled out into a wide, cylindrical opening with smooth sides and a flat base. The sides of the exterior have been deeply, vertically incised, creating a richly textured surface. The censer stands on four low, L-shaped feet, one at each corner, carved integrally with the rest of the vessel. Size: 3.4" W x 2.15" H (8.6 cm x 5.5 cm)
