Description:

Central Asia, Bactria- Margiana, ca. 3000 to 2500 BCE. A bronze stamp seal with a handle cast in the shape of a rider on a horse with an ovoid stamp face. The face contains two registers of a geometric motif of wavy lines and dotted shapes. Such stamps were important tools to sign wax or clay with the owner’s mark. The elaborate horse and rider handle reflects the significance these stamps had for their owners as symbols of status and power. Included is a custom clay impression of the seal. Size: 1.125" L x .675" W x 1.75" H (2.9 cm x 1.7 cm x 4.4 cm)
