Description:

Ancient Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC), ca. 2nd millennium BCE. An intriguing group of three circular openwork stamps, each with a small handle on the verso. The cast-copper stamp seal features a broad flower with ten radiating petals. The first bronze seal has a sequence of four arrows with turned heads. The larger bronze seal displays an abstract figure seated in a simple chair. Nice patina has formed across each stamp seal. Size of largest (abstract figure): 2" Diameter (5.1 cm).

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired before 2004

  • Condition: Repairs to areas of smaller bronze seal and copper seal, with light adhesive residue along break lines. All items have slight bending to overall forms and light encrustations, with chips to peripheries of smaller bronze seal. Nice patina throughout.
