Ancient Central/Western Asia, Bactrian Empire, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A gorgeous necklace composed of eleven broad beads carved from stunning banded agate. Each of the agate beads presents with natural citrine, vermilion, blue-grey, and grey hues, with one bearing primarily orange and yellow colors, and one showing mostly grey and white tones. Interspersed between the agate beads are modern carnelian beads of spherical forms as well as petite silver-plated seed beads. Strung in modern times and capped with a silver-plated loop and lobster clasp combo, this is an attractive example of wearable ancient art!   • Condition: Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Banded agate beads are ancient, and stringing, carnelian beads, and silver-plated components are modern. Minor chips and abrasions to some banded agate beads, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within some of the drilled suspension holes.
