Description:

Ancient Central / Western Asia, Bactrian Empire, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A fabulous and wearable necklace consisting of 33 small seed beads which act as spacers, 25 larger spherical or cylindrical beads, and 4 large ovoid beads. A circular stone acts as a secondary pendant, and a large ovoid stone bead constitutes the main pendant stone. Each of the stones is hand-carved from beautiful banded agate in a myriad of earth tone hues, and each has been drilled through the middle for suspension. Strung in modern times with a gold-filled loop and lobster clasp combo, this is a stunning example of ancient Bactrian artistry! Size (necklace): 19.5" L (49.5 cm); size (large pendant): 0.75" W x 1.7" H (1.9 cm x 4.3 cm).
