Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC) (Oxus Civilization), ca. 1st millennium BCE. A gorgeous, wearable necklace composed of ancient agate and gold beads on a modern string with a modern gold-plated clasp. 37 agate beads - all creamy white with sharply contrasting dark brown hues, of a variety of different shapes - and 36 tiny gold (81%, equivalent to 18K+) discoid beads have been joined together to create a beautiful series of contrasts - the agate ranges from almost black to an amber-colored glow, each with white and cream-colored banded stripes. The sparkling gold complements the more austere stone. Length of chain: 28" L (71.1 cm); gold beads are 81% (equivalent to 18K+).
