Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Aztec, ca. 1300 to 1500 CE. This large buff-colored pottery tripod bowl features a flared rim, a deep interior cavity, and a highly burnished surface. The interior basin is intricately incised with cross-hatched lines, likely designed for grating chilis or other food and medicinal ingredients. The interior rim and feet are adorned with striking black geometric patterns. Size: 9.25" diameter x 4" H (23.5 cm x 10.2 cm)
