Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Aztec / Mixtec, post classic period, ca. 1470 to 1521 CE. A beautiful polychrome tripod vessel, its form comprised of a shallow bowl sitting atop three broad, flat, trapezoidal legs that flare gently and are stepped near the bottom. The vessel is extensively decorated with three stylized avian heads adorning the exterior walls, abstract feather motifs on the underside of the bowl, and striations across the legs, all delineated in red, black, and white. Size: 7.125" W (leg span) x 3.5" H (18.1 cm x 8.9 cm); bowl is 5.75" in diameter (14.6 cm)
