Description:

Northern Europe, Viking/Norse culture, ca. 1000 CE. A beautiful silver ring with classic Viking style. This ring has a simple, flattened band that is stamped on all sides (except for the interior) with the triangular patterns so common to Viking silver art. The Vikings - groups of people who left Scandinavia to plunder and colonize northern Europe, who travelled as far afield as northeastern North America and the great kingdoms of the Middle East, had a distinctive artistic tradition, although many of the metals that they had were acquired through conquest. Often their silver, for example, was made of melted down coins from the Islamic world. US Size 9.75. Size: 1.1" W (2.8 cm); 8.8 grams
